Ain’t technology neat?

I’m a big fan of online banking. I’ve been using a completely online bank ever since I first heard that they existed. In fact, the idea of actually walking into a physical bank building now seems very foreign and strange to me. In my experience, there has only been one small annoying snag that I’ve just had to deal with when it comes to making the online banking experience equal to the “real” world experience… and that is deposits.
I can do pretty much anything bank related I want faster online than having to walk into a bank, but making a deposit when you don’t have somewhere you can drive to and drop off your check is a slow process. I mean, I actually have to wait like DAYS for my deposit to show up. It hasn’t really been a huge deal for me personally since my paycheck is direct-deposited and I don’t often make physical deposits, but its still annoying when I do have to deal with it. At least until today.
Just earlier today I completed my first deposit using my banks newest feature: scanned deposits! As in, I can now scan in checks to deposit, and they will credit my account instantly. And I get a PDF receipt to download with a copy of the scanned version of the check for verification. How cool is that?
I think the online banking world has just taken one more big step towards closing the gap on physical banks. And that works for me.
